Today I’m continuing a series of posts celebrating film photography in some of my favorite locations around the globe. Pack your favorite flowy dresses, wide brimmed hats and market bags because today we’re heading to the south of France for a beautiful tour of Summer in Provence.
Amidst the enchanting scenery of the south of France, centuries-old chateaus adorned with vibrant blossoms beckon, each steeped in rich history and charm. Nestled among the rolling hills, lavender fields, and vineyard rows, these chateaus provide the ultimate respite. The intimate size and vast on site amenities are ideal for honeymooners, weddings, and families alike.
Last summer I had the joy of staying at the intimate Chateau de Varenne in Sauveterre, just outside of Avignon. Our days began with glorious, locally sourced breakfast spreads on the terrace. Sun soaked afternoons were either spent by the pool or driving our adorable coverable mini-Coop from town to town. On one day, we ventured to bustling Aix-en-Provence. We could have spent a week exploring the winding streets and sitting in the vibrant squares. I truly could not have asked for a more restorative, beauty filled stay. Here are a few of my favorite Summer in Provence moments.
I photographed all the images in this Summer in Provence post on the Contax 645 system with Kodak Portra400 and Fuji400h in June 2023. One week was simply not enough time, though, so I am already dreaming of my next trip!
